  3. Resolved Question: Wouldn't it be a good idea?
  4. 22 May 2008 at 3:36pm
Wouldn't it be a good idea if people started citing their answers on things. Because I'm LDS and somebody said that Brigham Young is a god in our religion when we actually have one god. Some Christians get mad at atheists for lying. Isn't that kind of hypocrisy when some people cite false quotes and just abject lie about things. I went to a site call new advent and they said that the LDS church said they had around 500,000 members when we actually have around 13 million. And another site said that Joseph Smith said that he was better than Jesus when in reality he never said any such thing. When saying something about another person's beliefs isn't it good to actually qoute from legitimate resources? Please no immature answers (here they come) Another thing that was said was that the LDS Church only has a few stakes and that most of them are in Utah, when actually, there are only a few there and hundreds throughout the world.

  5. Voting Question: Where to find the best info on Cancer?

  8. 22 May 2008 at 3:22pm
We're getting married February 2009 and have discovered that due to family issues, we may very well be paying for the entire thing alone. We're on a strapped budget, but I don't want to sacrifice my wedding (it's every girl's dream). I need some cheaper locations and some do it yourself ideas for decorating...or at least a good resource for advice on it all. I live in a mountain resort town called Wrightwood. Unfortunately, local weddings are just as expensive as most other locations that we can't afford.

  11. Resolved Question: Java resources/book(s) for beginners?
  12. 22 May 2008 at 3:20pm
I want to learn a programming language, and I figure Java is the best to learn right now. The career that I am interested in requires Math and Programming, so this is why I am interested. I want the resource/book(s) to be for absolute beginniners - assume I know nothing about programming. It would be preferable that I be able to do more than a "Hello World" application, once I am through the book. If there is a series, feel free to list it. I prefer hard-copy books. I am not always at a computer, and so it would be convenient to flip through a book while commuting. Resources, please?

  13. Resolved Question: Apple and Sony connections?
  14. 22 May 2008 at 3:14pm
Almost every Apple or Sony product I own, they seem to use each others products, or a certain Apple product works really with a Sony product, or have common hardware For example Sony Products: Sony Vaio-Works really well with with Mac OS X86 hack Sony PS3-Cell Processor is based on IBM's PowerPC processor, used in previous Apple computers (Performa and iBook for examples), one reason why Yellow Dog Linux was the first Linux for the PS3, a Mac compatible distro of Linux Apple Products: iBook-The CD/DVD-ROM drive in iBook laptops (and perhaps other Apple computers) was created by Sony specifically for Mac There may be more that I can't think of currently, but why would two different companies be using the same resources and having the same comaptibility? @ MR. KRATOS I like the fact that they are compatible, I find it wonderful that they are compatible, that is not the question What I was asking was, they must be working with each other, I mean Mac OS X working on a Vaio PC, that wasn't meant to happen, and Mac OS X works really well with Sony Vaios, even better then XP on the same hardware The PS3's Cell processor being based on IBM's PowerPC processor, why not Intel, why not AMD, why not Cyrix/VIA? It's gotta be PowerPC, which is Mac hardware (ever seen a PC with a PPC processor? Didn't think so) The CD/DVD drive in iBook laptops (and perhaps other Mac computers) is made by Sony, why not Toshiba, why not Panasonic, it's gotta be Sony I like the compatibility, I like it all, I don't have a problem with any of it, I was just wondering, it seems these two companies like each other for some reason

  19. Resolved Question: Increasing muscles at a teenager age with limited resources?
  20. 22 May 2008 at 2:44pm
Im 15 , weight =11stone height = 6ft i want to increase my arm and leg muscles. I only have dumb-bells that i use for weights , i usually do sit-ups and press ups.But since im only in my bedroom i cant get any more equipment like benches, and since there isnt any room in my house for anything , thats why i use only them. I've done it since November last year , usually lifting for around about 30 mins a day , 6 days a week but my muscles havent grown much. Is there any other way to gain bigger muscles? i've been researching steroids but i dont think i should get involved with them after reading the after effects. Can someone recommend a good routine that is simple to follow and will gradually build up my muscle mass? Thanks again all Jamie--bk

  23. Resolved Question: Should social responsibility be taught at schools?
  24. 22 May 2008 at 2:36pm
We live in a world where competition is the norm. Competition only helps the rich get richer in a divide an conquer approach. No one seem to care about the others. And people feel that is right for speculators to get obscene amounts of resources without giving ANYTHING in return. Why not teach the cooperative approach to economy instead of the corporate approach to economy? Problem with the corporate approach is that the largest amount of resources go to the people that less work for them. In corporate America, its not even the owners that get the most resources, but the CEO's whose emphasis is in getting a short time raise in the value on shares (so they get their share bonus and sell it the same day). Instead of the long term value of the company. In cooperatives, on the other hand, the shareholders, and not the CEO have the power on the company. Why should the burden of our social system be on the hands of government. Why not simply teach people to help each other? I do not mean FORCE people to help each other. (Like a communistic society) I mean teach people to help each other and work as a team instead of getting on each other throats.

  25. Resolved Question: Do you support sex education?

  31. Resolved Question: Since Democratics pledged not to "campaign or participate"...
  32. 22 May 2008 at 1:47pm
Hillary Clinton is saying she pledged not to campaign in these states. The truth is that she pledged not to "campaign or participate" in the primaries. This is a quote from the Four-State Pledge: THEREFORE, I _______________, Democratic Candidate for President, pledge I shall not campaign or participate in any state which schedules a presidential election primary or caucus before Feb. 5, 2008, except for the states of Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina, ?campaigning? is defined by the rules and regulations of the DNC. It does not include activities specifically related to raising campaign resources such as fundraising events or the hiring of fundraising staff. Isn't it clear that the votes in these states were invalid because candidates did not campaign? Isn't Hillary Clinton only telling half the truth when she says she pledged not to campaign in these states?

  35. Resolved Question: OK G-D what now?...Ever Feel like this???
  36. 22 May 2008 at 1:39pm
On Monday we were given notice our Lease wasn't being renewed- Furthermore we have to be out tommorow... Every door that someone opens locally immediately SLAMS SHUT- we never thought it would open us up to relocate but the opportunities and ties open up. Ever felt like Divine Intervention was sending you somewhere and even though you dont have the resources, you just have to say OK? I have experienced similar circumstances but never this hard and I am wodering did I stop listening or have I ignored the will of G-d? This is vaugue but have you ever felt such intervention to keep you moving from a place? We now need prayer as our resources will not meet the expectations required... Mimzy... I was taught it is irreverent to use the na,e of G-d therefore I will NOT spell it out... MY Lord knoes to Whom I qam faithful and for that I am greatful but respect the fact of my beliefs that the Lord's name should not be use invane and that I choose by faith to not equate myself to Him... sorry for the typos but at the same time I have a respect by faith and I choose not to spell out the name of G-d I appreciate all the prayers please pray for us - our spirit is weak but our Lord is strong... Ok wow the lease came through and is executed now we need a truck, prayer and strength... I am optimistic but this is beyond my own will- my will is to stay and finish what I started but I stayed awake all night and set it free to G-d and everything keeps SLamming into place- it isnt gentle it's abrupt and it is life changing...Faith of a Mustard seed moved Mountains...

  37. Resolved Question: How much energy are we going to waste today?
  38. 22 May 2008 at 1:39pm
Everyday the sun delivers an enourmous amount of energy to the earth that humans fail to harvest. Why are Americans so lazy to change our ways to use this resource? It is not the cure-all to oil but it offers a lot of savings in the long run. If we had no need for oil, do you really think we'd have troops in the middle east? No, it's all about oil.

  39. Resolved Question: I left my old employer and now want to go back.?
  40. 22 May 2008 at 1:32pm
About six months ago, I left my old company due to the fact that I thought I was unhappy. However, I now see that I was never happier than I was at this company. One of the customer service reps from my old company called and asked me how I was doing and I told her that I was very unhappy. She told me to come back to the company; I figured that it would never happen so I never made any contact with my old boss or the company. After 2-weeks, my old boss called me and said he heard I was unhappy and wanted to come back; now, he is coming down to talk to me with the Director of Human Resources. What can I say or how can I prove to them that I am serious about coming back and will not look at leaving again a year from now. I want to retire with this company and now know that I made a very bad decision in leaving. Please help me or provide me some suggestions. Thanks!!!

  51. Resolved Question: Gas Prices Question?
  52. 22 May 2008 at 11:20am
Some are saying that oil prices may hit up to $250.00 a barrel by the end of the year. At that price, they predict, gas could hit $15.00 a gallon! Do you think Congress will finally allow more refineries to be built and to tap the vast resources in ANWR (many say a 200 year supply of fuel there) and the Gulf of Mexico (many say there is more oil in the Gulf than in all of Saudi Arabia)?

  59. Resolved Question: How would it help if bendy lampposts buckled?
  60. 22 May 2008 at 9:59am
I am doing a science paper and one of the resources is about bendy lampposts. I understand the benefits if they bend but how does it help if the buckle? Surely that just means that the car can keep going and drive into what ever is behind it, possible with the speed being reduced slightly. Also part of the idea is that the car rides up along the lamppost however, how would this work? Surely the lamppost is too thin for the car to ride up it and even so wouldn't the lamppost have to fall at an angle and not flat?

  64. 22 May 2008 at 8:49am
(Department of Natural Resources) The guys and gals responsible for game management, habitat quality and quantity and constant surveillance and monitoring of 'at risk' species? Or, is it just hunters that pay for all of this animal support? It seems that they only gripe and groan about factory farm animals; you know, ones specifically raised for food. Why is that?

  67. Resolved Question: moving the foot and mouth research from plum island?
  68. 22 May 2008 at 8:24am
this facility has effectively kept this treacherous disease out of American livestock because it is not on the main land, why would we ever plan to move it then???does any one else see the potential for great harm to our production of milk and meat??/with the crazy fuel prices now in place imagine if you will if the livestock were wiped out also??? people would starve right here??? third world countrys arent the only ones where there are hungry and starving homeless people, look around you and a lot of it is because illegal immigrants are robbing us of our precious resources jobs, housing, food and medical care.how can homeland security be so naive and ignorant as to think moving this facility is wise or safe or even neccesary! it is not!!! i say dont tempt fate keep this facility on plum island --- pump up security its wiser more effective and cheaper.there are no hurricanes or tornadoes or earthquakes or wildfires -- that could occur on the mainland.that would cause a catastrophe. off of new york this is the animal disease center.it is located at the northeastern tip of new yorks LONG island. what they do is keep our livestock healthy and protect our health as well. if this was moved inland there could be very dire consequences.i frankly see no reason to take the chance and allow some catastrophic thing to occur.there is no good reason to move this facility from where it is. read everything i already said where it is.doesnt any one even realize how devasting a move could be??? all the recent tornadoes in colorado, and minnesota, wisconsin.and the usual kansas, oklahoma, missouri should serve as a warning.do not move this research facility inland it will cause major catastrophic disaster in our food supply.only a fool would think otherwise.

  85. Resolved Question: Did I get the Target job? I had two interviews.?
  86. 22 May 2008 at 3:31am
I applied for a Target job yesterday and was immediately offered an interview for the next morning. I went to the interview and I thought it was going great with the first person, she said that we'd set up a second interview with a different person. This guy was very fast-paced so I could barely understand what he was asking me.. and he didn't provide examples like the other lady did (because their questions are so vague and broad). He asked if I had any questions, so I asked when I'd find out if I get hired or not. So he said "That's a very good question. Human Resources will call you or send you a letter within 7 days." And I guess Target usually gives instant job offers? But I think the store I applied for was taking a lot of applications, so maybe they're just seeing who's best for what? Thanks for any responses.
